Squaw Valley Issues a Statement Regarding Water Quality on Upper Mountain

On November 8th, 2016, it was reported to the Placer County Department of Environmental Health that the popular Squaw Valley Ski Resort in Olympic Valley, California had traces of coliform and E.coli bacteria in the upper mountain’s drinking water. Since the issue was detected, the water has been consistently treated and has shown improvement. The Director of Placer County Environmental Health, Wesley Nicks, has said that three of four wells located on the upper mountain that serve Squaw Valley are not showing signs of any dangerous bacteria. To not pose any risks however, all restaurants at the top of the mountain are closed and skiers have been warned to not consume any water there. Skiing from the top to the bottom of the mountain is still permitted however.

 

The Public Relations Director for Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, Liesl Kenney, issued a statement on November 30th regarding the water conditions on the upper mountain.   It was determined to be an isolated incident. Squaw Valley will not return to normal functions on the upper mountain until the Placer County Environmental Health officials have given the all clear. Any guests that are staying on the upper mountain of Squaw Valley still have access to water and facilities, and the resort is providing bottled water for drinking at no additional cost.

How CTRMA is Improving Austin’s Transportation System

The Williamson County Growth Summit was held at the Sheraton Georgetown Texas Hotel. The summit featured a panel of individuals who are involved in various capacities in the transportation sector. They include Joseph Kopser who is the founder of RideScout and Mike Heiligenstein who is the founding director of Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority.

 

Heiligenstein called for the development of more transportation infrastructure in the area due to the projected rise of population in the area. He noted that technology would come to play a vital role in the area’s transportation and there was a need to develop more roads that would serve the area’s inhabitants. Heiligenstein stated that technology would also need to be integrated into the road infrastructure to create smarter roads. He pointed that this was the only way that they could meet the mobility demands of the residents in the future. Jared Ficklin is a product designer from ArgoDesign. He said that policymakers needed to revise building and land codes so that they could accommodate the inception of autonomous cars.

 

Mike Heiligenstein has served as the founding director of CTRMA since it was founded in 2002. He is the president of the International Bridge, Tunnel, and Turnpike. Mike is involved with various transportation committees in the area. He was a public official in Williamson County for more than twenty years before joining CTRMA. The mission of CTRMA is to develop transportation projects to reduce congestion and improve mobility in Travis and Williamson Counties. These projects are developed in collaboration with private contractors who have a track record of delivering excellent results.

 

Some of the authority’s past projects include 183A Toll Road and the U.S 290 Toll road. These roads have helped to decongest other roads in the area because they have a larger capacity. The MoPac Express Lanes that they are developing will incorporate variable tolling so that the flow of traffic is predictable. They will also embed fiber infrastructure in some roads so that these roads can offer motorists a better driving experience in the future. CTRMA are aware that they will need to encourage people to use other means of transport to decongest the roads.  They also started the Highway Emergency Response Operator program which helps motorists whose cars have had major breakdowns.

Arizona Charities Get Support from Local Jason Hope

Scottsdale, AZ is lucky to have one of their local residents so dedicated to the improvement and support of the local community. Jason Hope grew up in Tempe and attended Arizona State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and an MBA. Fyre Festival Exclusive Music Event in Exotic Bahamas

FA bevy of beauties gathered together to promote a new music festival to be held on Fyre Caye in the Bahamas. Alessandra Ambrosio, Bella Hadid and Hailey Baldwin joined Emily Ratajkowski, Elsa Hosk and Paulina Vega on one of the most enviable trips imaginable. A report from Bustle reveals that while photo shoots were leaked on Instagram, details about the event were not released, which increased the buzz and intrigue and inspired celebrity posts inquiring what Fyre Festival was.

Celebrities, artists and the models posted orange tiles on Instagram to announce the event. More details have been announced, although the scheduled performers haven’t been revealed. Fyre Fest is a brand new music festival that comes to Fyre Caye on two consecutive weekends. According to Bravo TV, Fyre Festival will host star-studded events on April 28 to 30 and May 5 to 7. Some of the leaked activities include music, culture and food.

So far, we know that participants will enjoy yoga on the beach, water trampolines and snorkeling. There is a plane wreck off Norman’s Cay that will provide an opportunity for underwater exploration. The models apparently did a good job promoting the festival. All the buzz has created traction on social media. People are already seeking information on how to attend. The event, created by Ja Rule, is being compared to Coachella.

Tickets to the event are available on the event site and can be purchased for one weekend or both. Prices range from $1,194 to $50,000. Both ends of the spectrum include a private flight from Miami to Fyre Caye. The $1,194 ticket gets you entrance to the festival and a twin bed.

The super pricey $50,000-per-person package includes exclusive VIP experiences yet to be detailed as well as dinner with one of the performers. None of the performers have been announced, and this could be a purposeful move to generate even more buzz and mystery around the event.
